PID FREE

DESERT® & TROPIC® Technology:

Potential-induced degradation takes place in the power in crystalline photovoltaic modules. This degradation is related to voltage and caused by “leakage currents.” In the case of high system voltages in the region of 1,000 Volts, leakage can occur within the module: in other words, charge carriers that flow through the embedded material and the backside film. This can lead to electrochemical corrosion and thus a loss of power in the module.

This effect occurs especially at high temperatures and high levels of atmospheric humidity (see the diagram on the right). It may cause a loss of power up to 80%.

Our testing at a J.v.G. technology laboratory demonstrated a result of 100% PID free.
