Indian solar power company Omsun Pvt. Ltd. counts on technology acquired from the German company J.v.G. Thoma GmbH

Indian solar power company Omsun Pvt. Ltd. counts on technology acquired from the German company J.v.G. Thoma GmbH 17.01.2012 - Ahmedabad/India – With a staggering population of 1.2 billion, a forecast economic growth of 9% for 2012 and major future plans, India expects to meet its enormous power demands through expansion of renewable energies. On 16 January, yet another step was taken in this direction as the new solar power company Omsun Power Pvt. Ltd., located in Ahmedabad has been officially commissioned.

In the presence of more than 100 invitees, Hans and Ludwig Thoma, respectively the President and the Vice President of J.v.G. Thoma Group, inaugurated the new produc- tion unit. The inauguration was also the right occasion for intensive parleying between potential clients and political heads who discussed about future projects.
The annual capacity of the production unit is 15 megawatts, and the solar panels being manufactured are 225- to 240-watt modules. J.v.G. and Omsun have signed an agreement of participation, including the supply of a second production line. Moreover, J.v.G. will setup a permanent office in Ahmedabad in order to provide the best technical support to its clients on site.
India with its 2,300 to 3,000 hours of sunshine is undeniably predestined for solar energy. The solar radiation per square kilometre is rated at 200 megawatts. Managing Director Krishnakant Goyal: “India has set itself the ambitious goal of combining energy sources. In the coming 10 years the share of renewa- ble energies will increase to 20 GW. That will create the ideal conditions for Omsun“. In this context, meanwhile, the state of Guja- rat takes a leading position in the solar power sector. Plans are underway to turn the capital city Gandhinagar into a full-fledged “solar city“.
J.v.G. General Manager Hans Thoma: “We feel very proud that we as a mediumscale German enterprise are part of India’s transformation into a gigantic solar power house.“
