Solar power plant in Nigeria

Solar power plant in Nigeria 18.02.2014 - The Desert Technology of J.v.G. Thoma is moving forward in Africa

Freystadt, Oberpfalz – Just a few months ago, J.v.G. Thoma reported the first plant using the Desert Process was on the way to Nigeria. In the meantime, everyone has been working hard and partly under extreme conditions. The plant was accepted at the end of October. Manufacturing can now start.

The World Bank financing this project is now glad all went well, it was well spend money!

The first Made-in-Africa module confirmed what has only existed on paper until now: The performance will correspond to the high expectations. Once more the Desert Technology developed by J.v.G. will prove their advantages against the regular EVA technology standard.

Thinking and working from Small to Large
The initial results are encouraging. Right next to the factory, a Solar PV power plant will be installed to serve the factory with regular power. Then, the Desert Technology should prove throughout Nigeria its performance. The heat-resistant, robust technology from cool Germany will be perfectly suitable for the climate conditions found there.

Proceeding with a Good Prototype
Hans Thoma, the General Manager of the J.v.G. Thoma Group and Managing Director of J.v.G. Thoma GmbH, has been convinced, “The installation will take on a prototype character for the entire Africa market. In particular, we have certainly not reached the ‘end of our options’ with our technical developments.” J.v.G. Thoma provides a diverse spectrum of technologies for increasing performance, from the coating through the cooling system to the hybrid module. Will Nigeria be using these options soon? Further discussion will show, because the customer intends to do much more with the Technology developed by JvG Thoma GmbH.
